But onto the movie shall we. You know how you amp something up in your head, and then when you experience it, its not as good as you would've liked? But in your heart you know it was good, your hopes were just bit too lofty. That's what happened to me.
The plot....same old here is a super hero, his origins, trial and error tactics and his arch nemesis. And it was good. The action scenes where awesome and I finally think that America has a grasp on its CGI (the idea being that it doesn't look completely like it totally fake). There was a sweet balance of comic book humor and real humor, sometimes corny...other times actually funny. Roberts Downey Jr did a really good job playing the pompus asshole Starks and an even better job being changed man with a new higher, more divine order....we'll thank drug addiction for that. Gwynth Paltro. ::SIGH:: Gwynth, Gwynth, Gwynth. It's not the 90's, she just needs to step up her acting game. The GM robot has more stage presence than she did (BTW, as it turns out...he was laid of from GM only to become a movie star). If only the people at Ford were that lucky.
I mean....it was all very very good. I guess I was looking for a state of "Awe." Like the opening scone in X-Men 2 with Night Crawler. I was literally sitting there with my mouth open in complete and utter dismay. And that's what I wanted from this movie. But alas, I've learned my lesson. I will from now on enter the cinema with no hopes and dreams. I will be as stoic as a maple wood.
And that's it...my review of Iron Man. It cleaned up at the box office. So Marvel, riding high on success, apparently posted the following list of upcoming flicks.
The Incredible Hulk - June 13, 2008
Iron Man 2 - April 30, 2010
Thor - June 4, 2010
The First Avenger: Captain America - May 6, 2011
The Avengers - July 2011
Ant-Man - Writer/director engaged
