Obama. BIG and small.

Artist Jorge Rodrigues Gerada made a ginormous portrait of Barack Obama on a beach in Spain out of gravel, sand and pebbles. The portrait is bigger than a football field, measuring 140 by 80 yards wide and it can alegedly be seen from Google Earth. True story.....The oversized work was meant to convey both the "global impact" of the U.S. election and the "symbolic power" it holds for people around the world.

On the polar opposite, the nanobama (which is a little bit too complicated for me to try to explain comfortably, but it is really, really small Obamas) can inconspicuously be placed into the bed sheets and sprinkled within the homes of your bestest conservative republican friends (hopefully originating from a red state) without their knowledge.  I mean...that's the only thing I can figure out to use them for.

338 to 161. That was a close one. SYYYYYCCCCKKK!!!!!!

that's a "W."

Kanye West. Anyway.

Pros Thoughts has got another exclusive for you. Kanye's new song. It's so exclusive it sounds like you downloaded the AOL version off Limewire. Not that Pros Thoughts would know anything about such things. But about the song, it sucks.

It sucks alot.

Prop 8. How backwards can someone be?

In California this is a big thing. The gay and lesbian community are trying to gain equal rights to that of  heterosexual people and the passing of Prop 8 would simply not allow this. Today is the day that this issue is sorted out. But the reason I am posting this...is because I ran into this video urging young people to vote for the passing of Prop 8, in order to save the sacred institution of marriage. Please notice the use of spin.

How astoundingly ignorant. To quote the following as negative plot points: children being taught that marriages are all the same, adoption agencies giving babies to gays, churches being forced to have same sex marriages. Since when is it a negative thing to force equality upon a nation founded on those principles? Are these people listening to what they are saying? The most hypocritical excuse in my opinion is the "I have a gay friend" clause. What he is basically saying is..."you, keep doing all that gay sh*t...I accept it, you are still a good person but you are not good enough of a person to have the same rights as I do."  There is something awefully evil about a friend telling you about your right for equality. No?

Read some of the crap on their website. It will literally make your head spin. And the kids they used to make these spots...the complete conservative dorks- an A-List of people I would not want to be friends with.

Just an opinion.

VIA radar

on the fence ads about pizza. no wait...about the world economy.

What do we think about BBDO's newest idea for The Economist? Pie charts...or pizza pies.

Their goal is to "reach college students in the greater Philipelhia Area." Because...you know, the ad is on a pizza box. And, well...college kids eat pizza. Days and days of research, I'm sure. The tag line: "Get a World View," certainly works with the informational pie chart about worldly substances the pertain to pizza and it's consumption. It all connects logically. The peanut gallery on adsoftheworld are literally praising it. But to me, something is missing.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great creative idea. It's hot sh*t for a recent graduate of an overpriced portfolio school. It fills that "ambient" hole that all portfolio students yearn for in their overpriced books. But I wonder if the target audience would actually care? Maybe I'm just really, really envious, but I wonder if the average starving college kid worried about the "world view." Maybe that's it....the strategy. While great for a grown up daily commuter with an overpriced coffee sifting through a WSJ with the ease of a surgeon, I think a college kid needs to be told something else.

Phewwwww, for a minute there, I thought I was just sipping on the haterade. But that's it, the economist has the wrong message for their TA. It's great creative for no reason. *light bulb*

Or am I still on the short bus here? Something just seems a little bit off.  However...this is pretty brilliant.

"That is who we are-- to be black, and successful in any way, is to box lefty. In many old societies, the left-hander is seen as cursed. But anyone from the street--or anyone who's watched tape of Ali-Norton--knows that the unorthodox fighter can be dangerous. To box lefty, It is to have a different way of grappling with the world, a different way of seeing. The trick is not letting it be your only way of seeing...."

-a passage from ta-nehisicoates's column in the Atlantic. Simultaneously, the article refers to the first season of Mad Men and race, but it is one of the best reads I have in a long time.

Don Draper's Guide to Picking Up Women.

Voting (in the ghetto).

I just got to work.

It took me approximately 3 hours to vote, from 6am to 9am in my pajamas. There was one machine for an entire district, that broke down twice. They had to bring a new machine.  Not two, but one...new machine.

I'm so proud to be an American. We are so much more advanced than the rest of the world.

Feeling disenfranchised much? There was a riot about to start where I was voting. What about you guys? Smooth sailing? Did I mention that there was only one machine?

never better than late.

I may be a little late with these...you just have to act like they were posted before Halloween (wink). VIA girlriot, I discovered Joshua Hoffine, a cool Horror photographer. Exactly. Who knew such a thing existed? I do know one girl who would probably start weeping at the sight of that clown picture. And lets face it...that is the definition of complete and utter power. Also, Josh apparently hangs out with the Candyman (who coincidentally supports Obama). Small world.

Seal. A Change Is Gonna Come.

I'm really feelin this remake. And I am NOT a Seal fan. This song makes me wish I was born in a different era (and yes, I get the subliminal message). With that said, I refuse to end this blog post without touching on one of the best (worst) duets of all time.

Aaaaannnnnndddd, good night.

Virginity for Sale.

Meet Natalie Dylan. She is the person of the day (nay, person of the month). Natalie recently went on the Howard Stern show and said that she's been forced to sell her virginity, because her stepfather took out a student loan in her name, and she's unable to finance her education.

*crickets*

She said, "I don't have a moral dilemma with it. Why shouldn't I be allowed to capitalize on my virginity? I understand some people may condemn me. But I think this is empowering. I'm using what I have to better myself."

So, that's crazy right? Only in America can you sell your cherry and claim that it's for educational purposes. Sally May can make a girl do that type of sh*t. It's really creepy. But do you know what's creepier...? this clip of Natelie meeting a bidder on the Tyra show. The bidder's name is Lee and he is offering $1 million. If he is the highest bidder...he wins. And if this clip doesn't make you cringe, you lose...at being human.

"I want her, I want her virginity."

I can't even think of anything witty to say here. I'm both confused and scared. Kudos to Tyrannosaurus Banks for keepin in gangsta on both of them. I may have to file this under "too real" as well. Feminism at it's finest? Double Standards? Lazy whore? Or a byproduct of American culture?

And some people think that we really don't need to tax the rich more (they are literally buying virginity)? Aren't we in a recession?

patriotism/caffeine addiction...same thing.

oh thank God. the good (overpriced pompous assholes with complicated drinks) people of Starbucks have decided to give us a free coffee, if and only if...we vote tomorrow. And that's if....and only if, you make it through this long ass spot (one whole minute) of nothing but typography and classical piano music.

But seriously...people, take advantage here. Presidential elections come once every 4 years...but a free coffee from the Starbucks conglomeration...that sh*t is priceless.

*hint- how many Starbucks stations are situated around the corner from your office? Well...that's how many free coffees you get tomorrow.

OK...this is the last one.

this is the last Obama, McCain reference until Nov 5th.
This picture is hysterical.  And the funny thing is, that Obama doesn't look all that differently.

Very quickly....a few celeb costumes.

Ice T and wife Coco. Coco knows the true meaning of Halloween. It's slut-it-up day.

There is always one person who takes Halloween a bit to seriously. Hiedi Klum. God damn. The cast of Good Morning America dressed up for realz last Friday. And I appreciate that. (BTW did anyone catch the craziness that was happening on Fox Morning News...out of control).
But out of all the good costumes (Al the Cookie Man Candy Crotch included) Meredith won. This sh*t will give me nightmares.
And we will end with out fav Presidential candidate taking his kids out for trick o treat (surrounded by security).

How was your Halloween? Mine was pretty uneventful. I established my goal of drunkenness due to Jameson *place gold star*. I also went to my first Halloween Parade in the village. The crowd was overwhelming, so I immediately left after I saw the Thriller Zombies dance (which made me clap like a little kid), but I will never go again. Other than that...it was pretty lame. No costume. No candy.

I'm getting old and boring.

Saying Goodbye to a good thing.

The same thing that happened to me with the Olympics is happening to me now. A great source of blog material is about to be ripped away from me. Tomorrow, a choice will be made and much like SNL, I will loose all of the political material that has added value to my particular medium. Unlike SNL, this blog will continue to live on and thrive in the same capacity as always. So...dont you worry readers. I have gotten a little politic heavy around here lately, but after tomorrow I will get my sh*t together and we explore options, together.

But it's always hard to TRULY let go of something that has given you so much blog inspiration. So...in recent news Sarah Palin was prank called by comedians from canada. And its real. And a little sad. Yet truly genius.  And right below.
Enjoy.
