Life Lesson: Man Tears Prt 4

Another one bit the dust. Listen...I am waging a personal war against what I consider should be considered a hate crime in this country. MAN TEARS. I have posted about this before, but last week (or two nights ago depending on when I decide to watch it on my dvr) Ronny from Jersey Shore just got added to my list of perpetrators. He and "Reality star" Sammi had a not-to-inspiring break-up/ throw-down on national tv for us to wittness, and this dude responded with tears (like a child, all sniffling on tv and what not).

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Men. Crying is normal. Crying infront of people...is unacceptable. Crying on camera..is a sin. Don't get caught up in this trap. It is NEVER a good look. Society does not respect a crying dude.

The only exceptions are:

-A Death (and at the funeral...no where else)
-The birth of your child
-Surgery

And even from that list...you can only do one in public (I'm not gonna tell you which one). I guess it's a fact of life, the bigger they are, the harder they fall. Watch this clip. It's despicable. And I cant even find the after math of the fight...where he is laying in bed while boring as hell Sammi is asking him if she should stay. And he nods at her, like a three year old who just got in trouble. Oooooorrrrr, an Animal Hoarder that just got all 55 of their African Finch Back Parrots taken away from them (shout out to Animal Planets: Animal Hoarders, Friday nights at 10pm on Animal Planet) lol.

There needs to be a revolution. This use to be a small issue. I use to be able to overlook these. But it's starting to get out of control. And I think I know what the tipping point was. I blame John (teary-mcgee) Bahner.

P.S. I love reality tv (most of the time).

“Guys are douchebags and I hate them all. They don’t know how to deal with women and I feel that’s why the lesbian rate is going up in this country.” —Snooki

“She had summer teeth. Some are like this, some are like that.” —DJ Pauly D

“I don’t like tests, that’s why I didn’t go to college. Don’t test me, because I will fail a majority of the time.” —Ron Ron

I love the show and the cast for supplying these weekly. More so....I love Best Week Ever for summing them up on a weekly basis. Snooki still wins every week. Every...week.

The MTV Music Awards

I know. I know. I am too old to be watching the MTV music awards. And in my defense, I didn't really watch it. I used it as a "go-between" station when the NBA finals was on commercial break. But, I did catch this little dance skit/performance that included Tom Cruise dressed like his character in Tropic Thunder, dancing with Jennifer Lopez.

I watched it in it's entirety and you should too. Make sure you que up your ::blank stare::. Cause the idea that Tom Cruise toke time out of his life to do this, and then someone was like "he should do it with aged star Jennifer Lopez" will definitely cause you to do a ::blank stare::.

What 'Project Runway' Can Teach Agency Creative Directors.

"Make it Work." I will admit that I am a man. Who watches Project Runway. I love the premise of making "something from nothing" under a ridic deadline and then being judged for it. Because, basically...it's what I do for a living. I even followed it to Lifetime (where I see my fair share of Vagina ads). Well, I ran into this little article from AdAge and thought I'd post it here. The simile that the writer makes, I think can be applied to more than just Adlife. No?

The Jersey Shore: An Intro Lesson on "GUIDOS".

At this particular moment in my life, there is nothing (or very few things better) in the word than sitting on the couch and discovering a surprise episode of the jersey shore on my dvr. It's like finding money in your coat pocket, when you didn't know it was there.

I know. I know. I only post really intelligent and interesting posts about intelligent and interesting shows. I mean....I have told you guys about my love of Real World- no matter how boring the particular cast*(*ahem-Real World DC). But what you don't know, is that I dabble in an array of trashy reality tv shows. I am somewhat of a....professional. And as a professional, I am HIGHLY recommending MTV's The Jersey Shore.

Now, somewhere between 2002 and now, it became cool to use the term "GUIDO" in a positive light. I recall the days when calling someone a "GUIDO" was the best way to start a fight in the tri-state area. But this show embarrasses it. The set up is pretty much like Real World, but they have found seven, count them seven individuals who love the following: Hair Gel and therefor spiked hair, GTL (Gym Tanning Laundry), Hair Bumps, the Italian Flag, Techno and therefore Fist Pumping and Graphic Ts. They put them all in a house on Jersey Shore and literally let them run a muck for like a month and a half. Every episode/bar fight is a learning lesson in...what it men a to be a GUIDO. Every minute brings to light new terminology and childish cultural endeavor.

An introduction to the cast:

Pauly D- Pauly is 29 and his only life goal is to become a DJ. Now, I'm not knocking becoming a DJ- but when you're almost 30 you have to start getting your life together? Does he have any money in his 401k? I mean...life priorities. The other interesting thing about him is his spiky hair-do (which is a complete throwback to my high school days) which literally does not move. In the water, sky diving, lawn mower attack. Not a hot damn strand moves out of place. Annnnd he has the word "Cadillac" tattooed up the side of his body. Isn't that nice? But despite all these things....I kinda want to be his friend.

Nicole "Snookie"-Snookie is the reason I started watching. She is the one who got KO-ed by a guy, and like the rest of America...I became addicted. She's small. A little chubby. She's not all that bright. She's also loud and fiesty. Much like the first episode I ever saw in my life, her claim to fame is that she cam take a punch to the face. I've seen 4 episodes and she has been hit dead in the face twice. What she needs to do is learn the eight point blocking system asap.

J-Wow- J-Wow is just the typical wild ass slutty chic with a boy friend. She's got like 15 different hair colors going on all at once and every piece of clothing she owns has the potential of a probable nip slip. Oh and she has this boyfriend who is smitten with her. But of course she's cheated on him already. And when he found out about it, she sent her flowers. Yep....cause 1+2= Flowers.

Sammie and Ronnie- These two decided to date. Individually...they are not all that interesting. Ronnie is a meat head man child, and Sammy is clearly the "hot girl" in her crew at home, but in reference to the rest of the world....she is not- and she knows it and therefore makes everyone around her feel awful about everything all the time. The only interesting thing about them is that as a couple, they fight all the time. They fight about the stupidest of things, but they always get back together. There is alot of "man tears" shed-on both parts.  But at the time you watch it, it's like the most totally interesting thing in the world.

Vinny- Vinny is pretty normal. There-fore, this is all the characters that are allotted to him (and he gets no image).

Mike "The Situation"- This guy is a special breed of human. But he is definitely one of the show's stars. Mike has got wash board abs and calls himself "The Situation." I am convinced that he is completely socialy inept. He totally lacks the ability to recognize all social ques, and therefore is the most douchiest of oblivious douche bags known to man. This guy is in love with himself and expects everyone else to be in love with him too. He has no game, but thinks he does.  He spends literally 70% of his time trying to get girls to come over the house and get in the hot tub aha "creepin". Best quote to date: “....I necessarily didn’t want to bring home any zoo creatures whatsoever. These broads probably smelled the food at the house.”  I love the guy.

The Duck Phone- For some odd reason, MTV decided to make these kids talk on a phone....shaped like a duck. Lol. Friggin duck phone.

Now, I am the first to admit that this show is perhaps the most pointless show on earth. But hot damn it is entertaining as all hell. These guys represent a subculture that is as unique and yet useless as a Lady Gaga outfit. Evey time I talk to someone about this show, I remind them that the kids they have on-air now, are not the old Italian culture we see on the street everyday. You don't see any 45 year old "Juice Heads" at the grocery store, do you? These kids and thier "GUIDO-tude" are a fad. So you might as well be entertained by their willingness to put their ignorance out there for the world to see.

So, all in all. Will this show make you any smarter? No. Will it make your life any better? No. But will it make you want to write a blog post about the stupidity of humanology and how it can simultaneously become the most entertaining ploy of American entertainment to date? Yes.

12.23.2009

So I watched Jersey Shore.

I have alot to say about it. I swear I will write a comprehensive post very soon. It almost made my brain die....but I just needed to get this up. It's the Notorious clip of a girl (respectfully known as Snookie) getting close fist punched in the face at a bar by....some random douche bag dude. Because if you thought worrying about the Guido douche bags that you share a house with was enough....you actually have to worry about every Joe Schmo on the shore.

Hurry up and watch it before it gets takin down.

Halloween Countdown Prt 5: Kim Zolciak

This is a spoof, but I would f*cking love to see a group of girls do the Real Housewives of Atlanta? Serious props to anyone who pulls that off. You need a giant woman. A blond wig. Bad attitudes...and just pretend that you have southern wealth. Or should I say....Atlanta Wealth.

VIA pretty

10.13.2009

Because I know you wanted it.

So if you don't know. I have a bit of an addiction to the show Real House Wives of Atlanta. I don't want to get too into it, but Kim Zolciak (the infamous white girl who no one really likes) made a song this season and used another housewife, Candi (former member of girl group Escape) to make the song....not bad. Now, Kim has no talent what so ever. She certainly cannot sing. But she drinks wine and smokes like a champ. She has a sugar daddy named Big Pappa. She wears a really bad wig. She is always dropping ridic amounts of money...but has no job. And she's not really a wife, per se. But without her, the show would be lop sided and just not as entertaining.

And that's why I support this endeavor completely. And this song will be on my ipod tomm.

8.19.2009

Everyone else was doing it.

btw, this guy looks nothing like me. But he has my essence for sure. I couldn't figure out a way to get the lighter in the left hand and my drink in the right- so I settled for a briefcase (with a bottle in it of course). Just finished watching the first episode of Madmen Season 3. Good overall, but what was the deal with the heavy gay references? Betty calling her daughter a hammer wielding lesbian and Sal...poor Sal. Ok, that's it.

Goodnight.

Reality Competition Shows just Stepped up its game.

This, will make your day. Being gay is totally in right now. But what isn't in, is a giant drag queen dancing to Beyonce on a nation wide reality tv show on MTV. I'll admit it, I watched the season finale of America's Best Dance Crew last year. And I was thou roughly entertained. But this....this, is just AMAZING. It's like To Wong Foo meets Step Up 2 (minus the awesome Westly Snipes...still paying back taxes). And as Best Week Ever so eloquently put it: This will probably be the fiercest thing you will see all summer.

Haha, oh man....great start to my day. Great!!!!

5.28.2009

Jon-Kate Plus Eight (minus divorce settlement).

Yea, I know...I'm a bad person for watching the season premier on Monday night. I have been watching the show for some time now. So I have some vested interest. Aiden and Hannah are my favorites from the little Asian midget crew. I get how watching a divorce in progress is a bad thing. I understand why critics are all up in arms about the kids and how the break-up of a family shouldn't be documented for entertainment purposes and draw a bigger audience than the season final of LOST. The lack of morality involved with sitting down and witnessing this break up at the expense of these kids is staggering. Really...I get all of that.

BUT.....

Is that not the purpose of reality tv? This show is perhaps the realest of the reality tv mega-onslaught in the past decade. Its about more than a competition-it's life. .Jon and Kate claim that they started documenting in order to record the early years of their kids. And I can buy that. Now it's a circus and lets face it....it's the only way the family is bringing in money. They are stuck. And if you saw any of the shows and how Kate deboed Jon on a daily basis you knew that this day was coming. It's just an added bonus that we get to watch it. And that may sound wrong...but divorce happens every day. And more so that worrying about these 8 kids (who are probably set for life financially), this is Kate's doing and I personally am watching to see her get what she deserves. For those of you who did watch it, did you see how Jon had/has alot more to say when Kate isn't on the couch with him? Yea....he has tasted freedom. And I will be watching him while he gains complete freedom from Kate, tears and all.

The Show Must Go On!
