New movie trailer. Start saving now.

The fact that Mary Kate Olsen and Methodman were in the same place for more than 10 minutes intrigues the sh*t out of me. Enough so to see this in the theaters.

Wimbledon 2008. The Finals.

Mens Final.

Nadal vs. Federer. Spain (the worlds best at kicking balls around) vs. The Swiss (they make great watches). Good vs. Evil.
Whooorah!

Mens Finals Wimbledon 2008. 9AM.

"Get a good idea and stay with it. Dog it, and work at it until it's done right."

uncle sam was dancing on the roof.

I had a fun july fourth. I witnessed the Macys fireworks from South Street Seaport. It was really crowded. I then proceeded to avoid the end of the world crowds by walking my life away from Wall St to the Village-very very far. Tried to eat calamari at a Mexican restaurant (life note: mexicans are not good at making calamari). And then drank and partied until the break of dawn to 90s hip hop.

It felt good to be home. I really did miss New York- but i still do make silly references to the Chi. And apparently NY missed me. There is nothing like a national holiday of independence to reacquaint you with your home turf. It very patriotic and almost symbolic, in my opinion.

What did you guys do?

Side note. Why is it we celebrate July 4th with fire works again? Is it just some silly tradition or does it have a meaning? I bet Aoife Marie  knows. I await her response.

UPDATE: Oh yeah...and hot dog eating contests.

beatles weekend.

I am about 4 years behind the trend and have just discovered my love for the music of The Beatles. It has literally been my addiction for the entire week. I mean, its not like you can find it anywhere (not on itunes or imeem), but I have been listening the the Across the Universe soundtrack at work. I dunno, its like I just discovered a whole new world, a magical place i never knew. So...I would normally be inclined to kick off  the weekend with a Beatles' song. But, in lure of being arrested for pirating or something to do with patents, I'll leave you with a nice little video about friendship instead of stellar musical renditions. But let the record be known...I wanted to post a Beatles song.

This video should make you shed a tear. If not...you could be soulless. No biggie though.

Something in me really wanted to see the lion attack those guys (I am a little soulless). But anyway kids...have a good weekend. Its a holiday....so you be safe now.

P.S. I am well aware that I am missing a Throwback Thursday post. Blame the weekend holiday. And summer hours. Cause I'm outtie.

elegant.

this is what you do if you want to meet your future wife.

"I dont play games like that...I'm a complete catch."

UPDATE: There are some many good quotes in here....Im am literally overwhelmed. Overwhelmed I tell you.

terrorism is a no no (death) in Jerusalem.

Do you want to see a violent clip of a terrorist being shot in the face?
I'll show it to you. For free.

Meet Moshe Klessner. He is a soldier. He was off duty one day and walking down the sunny Rodeo drive of the Middle East when he spotted a bulldozer running over several people as it came up the street. After determining it was a Palestinian Arab terrorist, he took the gun of a police officer and ran up and into the bull dozer and shot the guy like 10 times from about a 2ft distance.

Look at the video. I tell the truth.

Read more about it here. I just posted the video for shock value really. Its interesting to look at how different cultures react to the same act of terror. When the US catches them...we trial them. In Israel (where bulldozers are infallible weapons) they kill them in the street and then receive a golf clap from on lookers.

Awesome, Awesome, AWESOME!!!

that's three exclamation marks for combineing my 2 favorite things.
1. tennis and 2. advertising
(sans twizzlers, but we'll work on that)

Please note the lack of lines from Federer(you actually need a green card to have a line in American advertising). And that guy from Flight of the Concords is hysterical. I almost choked on my bagel laughing. Almost. Thanks Nike/W+K. You almost killed me and its not even 10am yet. Also note worthy....Roger's little logo at the end. Watch out now...he is becoming a brand.

battle royal.

In the trenches of design lies the horrible world of defacing parodies. Our designer hero Shepard Fairey is gettin slighted. If you recall he was fighting the good fight with those Obama posters. Well, apparently he has a dubious copycat who goes around recreating his work mockingly. I guess he isnt dubious...but there is something inately illegal about this.

His name: Baxter Orr.
His Game: Defacing Hopeful Design.

I would say, "Let the design battle begin." But Im pretty sure someone should get sued. We could draft up the paper work in illustrator...(insert more design jokes here)

faceless aliens land on earth...and watch the williams sisters.

I guess for the past few days these faceless people have been roaming around England. Most recently they attended Wimbledon to watch some tennis. No one knows what they are/who they are representing. Some people are saying its Elton John's idea of a viral campaign for  a party or something. I personally think it has something to do with Scientology. Or aliens. Whatever the case they are creepy as all hell.

If I were the lady in the stripped dress in the above picture (which I wouldn't be- I would have something on way more fierce and I would be massaging my boobies...both of them), I would've also flipped the f*ck out and frantically start looking for the secret cameras. After deducting that I was indeed not on candid camera...I would crawl up into a ball and slowly start rocking back and forth repeating the candid cinematic line, "there's no place like home, there's no place like home."

Seriously, this sh*t couldn't go down in the US. Between the backwards country good ole boys and my ecko valor wearing brothas (i have no idea what the kids are wearing these days)...theses faceless people would probably end up on a milk carton box. Which I guess would be of no help...since they are faceless and all....

“sexuality is between your ears and gender is between your legs.”
- jerry springer

quiet.

the dreaded line.

"you're so quiet."

I was trying to leave at 5pm on the dot today. I had an appointment (in my mind) to keep and a train to catch. And as I rounded the corner I ran into an AE. Now she seems to be a very nice woman, but she is what I call a "talker" . And she was...well talking to the other talker of the office.

To be a talker you must possess the uncanny ablity to talk about anything at moments notice. There needs to be a storage bank of stories, riddles and life lessons attached to the back of your head. It is a powerful asset. Infact, when I look at talkers in action I am usually placed in a state of awe. It is definitely a skill set not for the faint at heart. I personally believe that the gift should earn you automatic entrance into the X-Men. But that's just my opinion.

But back to my story. I was rounding the corner and ran into the following conversation:

Talker: Hey Shaun...you leaving so soon?

Me: Yeah its 5pm, Im going to get out of here...have a nice night!

Talker: You know, since youve been here you have been super quiet

Me (in my head): What the f*ck lady?
Me: Oh, well...Ive been trying to get to know my copy writer A-Dawg

Talker: Well, A-Dawg is always in here (referring to the Talker's den/office) chit chatting up a storm.

Me (in my head): And.....

Talker: Whap, whap, whap.....

Me: Okay, Im going to get going....see you!

I pouted the entire walk to my train for being misunderstood. I felt like I had to defend myself. And for what? Because Im not in the midst of sharing my personal life with the office? Because Im not gossiping or reveling in your morning story times? Ive been here for 2 weeks lady. Gimme a break. I may not be a mutant who specializes in talking to anyone about anything...but I am far from shy or quite. I will never ever force myself to talk just for talking sake or to entertain the masses. I have better things to do. Like clip my toenails and mold my buggers into little Statues of Liberty. Get it? Forced convo is not my cup of tea. And perhaps talker...maybe I dont find you particularly interesting.
The age old line....Its not me, its you... (see what i did there?)
