Ok....so on the tail end of my last child friendly post....comes this. Now, I was was flipping through archive and I saw ads for this booze filled candy, and I thought they were smart. I was going to post them. Then I googled...and I found these.
Now....I know my morale compass is low. Because I would these wildly entertaining. They are also non-american so......
Somewhere around 20 seconds or so, when you see the bottle of Cog-nac dressed like a church-lady. The Dream says, "I know you love when a N-(bomb) break it down."
I mean....uf that quote alone doesn't make you watch the spot, I dont know what will. Anywhooo....Craig over at KMBA wrote up a lil post on using the N-Word in spots and raises the question after a hysterica albeit relevant intro: Does the N-word transcend profanity to the majority of African Americans and should we be using it in commercials?
My opinion...well, it's for a type of cognac. Black people drink cognac. The spoc it ridiculously not about or saying anything. The Dream is sooooo 2 years ago. But no, the N-word doesnt transcend a damn thing. It should not be used is spots for cognac.
Read, and respond. And yes, that is liquor bottle dressed up like a church lady.
Is it still alcoholism is the liquor is real food tasting? Cause last night I could've had this with with some asparagus and brown rice flavored liquors. A healthy Wednesday booze fest.
I can't help but to completely agree with Craig from KMBA on this one. Talk about ignorance. I mean...what connection is to be made exactly? All Im getting from this campaign is "black people = cheap liquor."
But I must admit, Jameson for 19.99...fo sheezzy, son. That's what's up.
I love how subtle these are. Thoseadsodtheworldcommenter's (or as I tend to call them- troll creatives) are all up in arms because the print ads are "too tame." I think they are doing exactly what they were intended to. Those Brits....I tell you....so slyly clever sometimes. Kudos.
Here is something for your brain to chew on.....in Africa, Guiness is made differently. Like...natural disaster different.
Agency: Saatchi & Saatchi, West Africa.
Do you think it tastes different in the UK and the states? If so...I really want to taste that African Guinness. Maybe the tornado picked up some antelope. Still....nothing comes close to this. Here's to waiting, old chap.
I must apologize for my lack of pre-weekend good wishes. Stuff got a little crazy here at the job (soon to be ex-job). There was a pre-ordained beer tasting and one, amongst the many other mindless responsibilities I have/had, was to help set things like this up. Simply put, it was barrels of high-alcohol content beers (Delirium being my favorite) which eventually led to us jammin out to some music at a co-workers cubicle (high point of my HR career indeed) and ended with me going home with 2 cases of some foreign beer for my own (and my roommates) going away party. Needless to say, I was already drunk. But you know...that happens. But the point of the story was to explain my lack of blogging responsibility. I formally apologize to all 5 of my adoring readers.
Tough weekend. Lost a roommate...ummm to London, not like to death or anything. And I am slowly realizing how anxious/sad I am getting. I had grown accustom to Chicago. Its quirks. It awesome summers. The people. But in a week...Im relocating. Sadness....
But, here is something nice and refreshing to start off your Mondays. I saw these guys (my roommate Kelly's favorite band, or at least his favorite myspace band) live at Rib fest 2008on Sunday. I like them. And they are pretty awesome live. (Check the Bass Player...high as a kite).
Ling Ling the giant panda and that female horse that was the first loser at the Derby this weekend better watch their backs. Well..I guess its to late for that. Ewwww, too soon? (you dont have to love me, just respect me, lol).
-"Yes. I would indeed like another...you make the best martinis on this side of the...HOLY SH*t WHAT IS THAT?"
well, whatever the case... you'll at least get a blow job if you buy it, according to this print ad. Oh...also buy some capri. Or capri 2 . Or Absolute. Or Frogoli. Damn....apparently all liquors get you some. But I wouldn't mess with Frogoli...teeth are deadly.
But yeah...sex sells Alcohol. Fact. I was pounding some Grey Goose (don't ask, you know I'm too poor to buy it) last weekend...and I got a BJ. Wait...just kidding. I did get real drunk though.
Damn JWT. You are blowing my mind right now. The last like 7 ad posts, you have owned. And here is another one. Absolut. You are the reason why everyone knows and respects this vodka. Holler at the city campaign. Smart.
Really, fuck a 360...there is nothing better than a smart, well done print campaign. Just my opinion. Its a basic. it will never go out of style. Like black sweaters or a white button down.
I feel...like a martini (so what its 11:40 in the morning). Don't judge me.
