Copy Writing on Amazon.com.

Being a jackass via the internet is always fun. You know...when people get all gutsy when they are infront of a computer screen. It's a certain level of douchbaggery I'm trying to describe right now. Like...an internet douchbag or a "Net-bag." I'm not sure. But sometimes people really are clever, and it kinda crosses into the real of real writing. It's witty and pulls you into a completely different place. It's fun.

Well, I discovered a string of this type of writing on amazon, over the flyest of wolf shirts of all times. Here is one of many product reviews that literally made me laugh out loud.

"This item has wolves on it which makes it intrinsically sweet and worth 5 stars by itself, but once I tried it on, that's when the magic happened. After checking to ensure that the shirt would properly cover my girth, I walked from my trailer to Wal-mart with the shirt on and was immediately approached by women. The women knew from the wolves on my shirt that I, like a wolf, am a mysterious loner who knows how to 'howl at the moon' from time to time (if you catch my drift!). The women that approached me wanted to know if I would be their boyfriend and/or give them money for something they called mehth. I told them no, because they didn't have enough teeth, and frankly a man with a wolf-shirt shouldn't settle for the first thing that comes to him.

I arrived at
Wal-mart, mounted my courtesy-scooter (walking is such a drag!) sitting side saddle so that my wolves would show. While I was browsing tube socks, I could hear aroused asthmatic breathing behind me. I turned around to see a slightly sweaty dream in sweatpants and flip-flops standing there. She told me she liked the wolves on my shirt, I told her I wanted to howl at her moon. She offered me a swig from her mountain dew, and I drove my scooter, with her shuffling along side out the door and into the rest of our lives. Thank you wolf shirt.

Pros: Fits my
girthy frame, has wolves on it, attracts women
Cons: Only 3 wolves (could probably use a few more on the 'guns'), cannot see wolves when sitting with arms crossed, wolves would have been better if they glowed in the dark.
"

Go ahead...treat yourself to some more.

The Linkdown.

1. Awww...that is sad. So much portrayed is such a small gesture. Damn the times.
2.This is what the New York Sunday Times is writing about. Black Kids who like white music. Revolutionarily ignorant.

3. Oprah incites the first ever KFC riot.

4. Wolverine, the movie...in the 30 seconds. The most accurate thing I have seen this year.

tips for you design folk.

"Like designing, writing can straddle the line between art and craft—half blinding flashes of inspiration and unexplainable moments of brilliance (maybe a little less than half), and half moving words around, making and breaking sentences, typing commas then deleting them."

genius copy writers.

Awwww, this is the second post about Polar Bears today!
How ironic.

juxtapositions.

my good friend (in real life) maya, over at smart aches wrote up a nice little post. I'm not sure if she actually wrote it herself, but knowing her internal genius and out-ternal "take no sh*t" persona....I would guess she wrote it. Within, she dissects some of today's cultural bias within American society.

a few examples:

Black teen pregnancies? A "crisis" in black America. White teen pregnancies? A "blessed event."

If you grow up in Hawaii you're "exotic." Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, you're the quintessential "American story."

If you are a Democratic male candidate who is popular with millions of people you are an "arrogant celebrity." If you are a popular Republican female candidate, you are "energizing the base."

If you manage a multi-million dollar nationwide campaign, you are an "empty suit." If you are a part time mayor of a town of 7000 people, you are an "experienced executive."

If you teach abstinence only in sex education, you get teen parents. If you teach responsible age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.

If you are a younger male candidate who thinks for himself and makes his own decisions you are "presumptuous." If you are an older male candidate who makes last minute decisions you refuse to explain, you are a "shoot from the hip" maverick.

that's all I'm giving you. You'll have to boost her numbers to see the rest.

Well said master ninja.

UPDATE: She did not write it....but she was genius enough to bring it to light. Well done master ninja.

"we got 99 problems but design aint one."

This is cool...get one if you're a democrat. Or even if you're just an ass man.

I love how they describe themselves...

"self-described as, a small, exclusive, secret, digital design collective. We make stuff, and things, and junk, and whatever. We’re all “classically educated” and “real world” tempered. We’ve got 99 problems, but design ain’t one. We’re full-on digital cowboys. We embrace user centered design in all its modern guises. We have day jobs. We’re design snobs. We can tell you what that font is. We thrive on helping our clients solve problems. And we make all kinds of fly shit."

old school ads.

Feeling Bernbach-y today.

Especialy after this retro-ness. I also feel like making up words, just to show the ability-ness of uber awesome copy to make an ad a catrillion times better.
execution 2.

My opinion....very studenty yet interesting to look at. But it works.
