Almost over that Hump

Your resident DJ is back.
Wednesday is here and we all cant wait to get on to our 3-day weekend.

This playlist is about working through the week to have fun on the weekend. I arranged the songs is particular order. The first three song are about the stresses of working. The next two are about cutting loose from that 9to5 and enjoying the time off. The last six are to get you in the mood to take advantage of this city (if you live in it, or your city), get you excited for the summer.

batty weekend.

I know that everyone and thier mom will be out trying to get into this movie this weekend. Its already getting rave reviews. And Im excited. However, I am not going to push my luck. And I want to avoid the crazies- you know the people who dress up for movies. Yeah. Im not in the mood. But if a few of my lovely readers do somehow find themselves in the midst of The Dark Knight...keep it to yourself.

chow and have a good one.

queens weekend.

Good Monday to you dear reader. I hope you had a fun and safe weekend. I sure did. It seems that I am finally getting out of my "missing Chicago" mood. And all it took was one good weekend of debauchery cruising the street of New York and Queens. Yes, Queens. I spent much time (perhaps too much) is the unknown borough of New York. I went flat screen shopping. To be exact...I went 46 inch LCD flat screen shopping. Seeing as how I can barely feed myself, it wasn't for me...but for some reason I felt rich just going from store to store and adding my valuable input. Do you know the difference between plasmas and LCDs? No? Well I do. In your face!

But otherwise, New York is treating me alright right now. There is an added value to coming back home an reconnecting with old friends. I dont have to impress anyone, they already know that everything is not right in my cerebral cortex. Any they accept it. And we take jameson shots as a sign of good health and love. If you are in NY and you havnt taken jamo shots with me...no worries...your time will come. In the mean time...here is a little serenade for and from the big city. I have some real work to do this morning...but Ill get to the entertainment in a bit.

weekends are so much better.

So remember that Summer hours thing we were talking about. Well, you are currently witnessing it in action. Im outtie for the weekend right now. Technically, I should be going to Kansas with my Chi-town roommates...but I was forced to change my plans for a cousins engagement party. Whap whap. Anyway...Im off for my second NY weekend. Holler. Be safe kids. And I'll see you next week. Here's a little jammy jam to lead out into Saturday.

Back in the NY. Hope to see all you old heads soon.  Sick song for a sick new chapter in my life. Apply it.

piece of the pie weekend.

Today has actually been a very sad and busy day. I came in thinking "last day, last day, last day" and now Im kind of sad to be leaving so abruptly. Ive been recieving hugs and "good luck" hand shakes all day. My boss just took me to possible the most delicous lunch I have ever had in Chicago and gave me a gift. When I returned from lunch, there were more gifts on my desk. Im overwhelemd at how much these guys care about me. Ive only been here a year, and possibly do the most lowely of jobs. I expected a pat on the back and my last paycheck. Not all this.

But alas, I must remember...I am moving for a reason. Im not coasting anymore. Im moving on up.

Movin On Up - The Jeffersons

*besides there is still a happy hour i need to go to in 2 hours before I say my final goodbye. Alcohol + Admitted love and caring for me....there may be some tears.

weekend apologies.

I must apologize for my lack of pre-weekend good wishes. Stuff got a little crazy here at the job (soon to be ex-job). There was a pre-ordained beer tasting and one, amongst the many other mindless responsibilities I have/had, was to help set things like this up. Simply put, it was barrels of high-alcohol content beers (Delirium being my favorite) which eventually led to us jammin out to some music at a co-workers cubicle (high point of my HR career indeed) and ended with me going home with 2 cases of some foreign beer for my own (and my roommates) going away party. Needless to say, I was already drunk. But you know...that happens. But the point of the story was to explain my lack of blogging responsibility. I formally apologize to all 5 of my adoring readers.

Tough weekend. Lost a roommate...ummm to London, not like to death or anything. And I am slowly realizing how anxious/sad I am getting. I had grown accustom to Chicago. Its quirks. It awesome summers. The people. But in a week...Im relocating. Sadness....

But, here is something nice and refreshing to start off your Mondays. I saw these guys (my roommate Kelly's favorite band, or at least his favorite myspace band) live at Rib fest 2008on  Sunday. I like them. And they are pretty awesome live. (Check the Bass Player...high as a kite).

Alone Again - Illinois

5.23.2008

the week's end.

Life is hard kids. There are ups and downs. Loop holes and sh*t storms. Just keep your head up and you'll get through the wire. I promise.

Through the Wire - Kanye West

But if it just so happens that it doesnt get better and you dont get through, dont quote me or this blog. I got lawyers and ish.

Have a good three day weekend kids. See you tuesday!

weekend advice.

I thought I would end this week on a high note. Unfortunately, I was not able to blog as much as usual or do the research that creates really good blog posts...but hey, I actually had work to do this week. And Im tired as f*ck.

So, when I say its time for me to hit the clubs...I mean it. And I want to see you all there. But here is some advice.

You might think you can handle it at the club. But really...you may hurt yourself. Watch out.....watch out now.

Have a good one kids. I'm skippin out early today.

5.09.2008

my jeep.

I'm gonna help yall get your freak on this weekend.

Here is what you do. Get your interested (or interesting) party in the same room as you. Then be like....
"You you remember this song from back in the day?"

::press play::

Then start your slow grind (or wind, depending your culture). Sing with R.Kelly. "You remind me of my jeep, I wanna ride it...something like my sound, I wanna bump it."And let life go from there.

I promise you. If you get nothing out of this plan. Your significant other, probably isn't that into you. You should at least get a 4 minute two person slow grind. Nah mean.

Lol. Have a good weekend kids. Play in traffic and stick forks in electrical outlets. Its fun. Trust me.

5.02.2008

payback weekend.

You know what day it is....May 2nd. IRON MAN is out in the theaters and Im gonna see it. Immeadiatly. And it will be the highlight of my year sofar. It will be my 2008 payback.

::signal start song::

::signal start old school James Brown dance::

Annnnnnnddddddd, Im out. Have a good one. Stay safe. Imma get me a bottle of Henny, and watch some LOST. HOLLER.

4.25.2008

sex and the weekend

ok, I could potentialy regret this post...but for you ladies and/or the man or two who has watched enough episodes of Sex and the City to know that Carrie (once a cheater always a cheater) Bradshaw got excatly what she deserved when she cheated with Mr Big...not that I would know.....

I have stumbled upon the official Sex and the City the Movie theme song. With a small resemblance to the tv show theme, Fergie delivers yet another shallow rendition of a song colored with count downs (1,2,3) , talking bits and repetition.

Now onto a weekend filled with manly things....like wrestling bears and providing for my family. Me man. Me make fire.

Peace.

weekend inspiration.

A little Story to Get your weekend Started Off on the right foot. Or left...no need to discriminate.

Julio Diaz was on his way home from work one night...regular stop off the 6 train in the best place in the world, NY. When a boy approached him with a knife asking him for his wallet. After giving it to him, Diaz then offered him his jacket, saying, "Hey, wait a minute. You forgot something. If you're going to be robbing people for the rest of the night, you might as well take my coat to keep you warm."

Upon taking the jacket, Diaz offered to take the kid out to eat. After accepting and finishing up both of their meals at the near by Diner, Diaz told the kid that he would have to pay for the meal...since he had his wallet and all.

And the kid. Well...the kid have him back his wallet. His jacket. And even the knife. In response, Diaz gave him $20.

And they lived happily ever after.

***This guy is a saint. If it were me, and I got that kid trapped in a booth...I woulda beat him senseless, took my stuff, called the cops and left him to pay the tip (but like, in a totally friendly way)

Any who, to read more about it. Click here.
And here is a little tune that will probably help us all be...better people if we are lucky- a mutant super hero, if we are really lucky.
