On Ignorant Comments

You may have slipped up.

This is Nice.

"Let's knock out the psychobabble...this guy was a pervert, a child molester; he was a pedophile. And to be giving this much coverage to him, day in and day out, what does it say about us as a country? I just think we're too politically correct."
-Long Island Republican, Peter King.

Diresspectful and wrong. Completely wrong. I could say something completely bias, evil and inconsiderate about people from LI, but my mom taught me about commonsense. I debated posting this because I didn't want to give this guy the time of day...but evil should be seen, heard and judged.

When will these people learn?

Recently, mayor Dean Grose of a small time Californian city, Los Alamitos, was caught passing out around an email with the above picture attached. The email was entitled "No Easter egg hunt this year." The mayor has since resigned.

As sad and hateful as this is, the thing I really don't understand is why the mental light switch has not been flipped. You work with and under an African American. You are a politician. Race is always an issue. What is it about the our culture that makes a race of people put their jobs and reputations on the line for a racist joke?

The worst part is that he busted himself. He sent it to a black lady. Does this man really think that he is above the law of common dignity or does he really not see anything wrong with what he was doing? Because to answer yes to either of those questions...is a scary, scary reality.

Grose's response, There is no way that I meant anything racist in my email. I was merely criticizing Obama’s fiscal plan, which is so horrendous that it’s almost as if it were written by watermelons.

Written by watermelons....? When was the last time you heard a politician anthropomorphasize?

Lifting as we climb

Check this out from DiversityInc:
Black History Denied in Texas

I still don't understand why people don't want to learn about another facet of American history. There are some who will never want to learn and trust me, I'm not trying to meet them to change their minds.

God forbid we teach black kids about their history and try to formalize it. They want to deny us in TEXAS of all places! Whether white America wants to admit it or not, we are inextricably weaved into the fabric of this country's tapestry. They saw to it by bringing us here.

Let's Celebrate.

While thousands of people are loosing their jobs, their dignity and their dreams due to the fat cat antics of a few greedy Wall Street punks and bankers, you must excuse me if I have not paid enough (or any)homage to Black History month. Especially when I am one of those thousands of sacrificial lambs. But it's important that you know that this is not the case everywhere else in the country: let's celebrate collard greens, pork hocks, and bologna.

Sad.

"It was really exciting. It's an amazing feeling. It's our first colored president."
—Lindsay Lohan, in an interview with Access Hollywood.

I was gonna let this one slip by the Pros Thoughts radar. I really was. But come on...one step forward, five steps back. This isn't the cha-cha slide...we are not called "COLORED" any more.

P.S. In the pic, doesn't Lindsey seem to be saying "forgive my ignorance" with her eyes. To that I say, finish up highschool and then we can talk.

Prop 8. How backwards can someone be?

In California this is a big thing. The gay and lesbian community are trying to gain equal rights to that of  heterosexual people and the passing of Prop 8 would simply not allow this. Today is the day that this issue is sorted out. But the reason I am posting this...is because I ran into this video urging young people to vote for the passing of Prop 8, in order to save the sacred institution of marriage. Please notice the use of spin.

How astoundingly ignorant. To quote the following as negative plot points: children being taught that marriages are all the same, adoption agencies giving babies to gays, churches being forced to have same sex marriages. Since when is it a negative thing to force equality upon a nation founded on those principles? Are these people listening to what they are saying? The most hypocritical excuse in my opinion is the "I have a gay friend" clause. What he is basically saying is..."you, keep doing all that gay sh*t...I accept it, you are still a good person but you are not good enough of a person to have the same rights as I do."  There is something awefully evil about a friend telling you about your right for equality. No?

Read some of the crap on their website. It will literally make your head spin. And the kids they used to make these spots...the complete conservative dorks- an A-List of people I would not want to be friends with.

Just an opinion.

Ameriiicaaaaaaahhh, f*ck yeah.

Meet Andy Lacasse. He is the person of the day because of his eloquent use of  word play to express his political views. He posted it in his front lawn.

The sad part....is that all he needs is one more "line" to make a complete thought. So close...

UPDATE: My bad...this man obviously was trying to make a point.

I will never watch 60 minutes again.

Ignorance. Ignoarance. Ignorance.

I know the man is old...but damn it....someone sit him down and tell him why we don't use the word negro anymore.

9.18.2008

you can be african too.

while racialicous debates the cultural appropriation of American Apparels new line Afrika, I will be the first to outright say that it is simply culturally insensitive. It's not racist

Lets face it...it's made by hipsters for hipsters- FHBH if you will.
Hipsters...a demographic that prides itself on not conforming and being as obtuse as possible.  In general, they are not necessarily the most a tuned of demographics, when it comes to being "politically correct" or "culturally cognoscente." The only united front they do have is against corporate culture. Hipsters usually dont give a f*ck.  If their jeans are tight enough and their babies are tucked away safely in home made baby slings, and Williamsburgh doesn't burn to the ground...hipster could careless what you think about them wearing what it is they are wearing and why.

The thing is...cultural insensitivity can be more hurtful than racism itself. It is ignorance in the plainest of forms. Want an example...cultural insensitivity is an American anchor at the Olympic Opening Ceremony calling the traditional garb of a foreign country, a costume. It's unknowing. It's innocent. And it festers and grows within cultures and becomes natural. Cultural insensitivity hides behind the mask of acceptance. It's a Caucasian person saying "my ni**a" or calling someone else "darkness." It's ignoring the past and history behind a group of people and pushing for the future. But it's a catch 22...while its great to look forward, you can never forget to look back.

So...I don't have a definitive answere to whether people should consider this or not. I'm not African, so I personally am not offended. I also will not be wearing anything close to African garb anytime soon. But...that arab (i know it's not) scarf trend is still around, so I'm assuming this could catch on.

I don't really have an answer here...I guess I just wish that people (you the reader) were more culturally aware. That's it.

awkward.

I feel like its going to be a big day for celeb news. Its in the air.

Lets start it off with an awkward interview with my main man JT.

Everyone is calling him "bitchy"...I, on the other hand don't see how he could've handled this interview any other way. I would do the same thing.

"And you are...."
